Our Story
Welcome to Dormie House — a timeless retreat steeped in history and nestled in the picturesque Moss Vale in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. Built in 1934 and perched proudly overlooking the Moss Vale Golf Course, our hotel has a captivating story to tell.
In the early 1900s, Moss Vale Golf Club laid its roots, setting the stage for a sporting legacy. Then, in the 1930s, Dormie House became an exciting addition, offering a haven for guests, just like its name suggests. Designed by architect Mr. Stanfield and brought to life by Messrs Alf. Stephens and Son, Dormie House showcases classic architecture and charm. Through the years, it served as a beloved guesthouse until the club reclaimed it in 1974, cherishing its value.
Today, Dormie House stands as a testament to our past, blending historical charm with modern comforts. We're in the process of refreshing our beloved hotel in a staged renovation. Some of our guestrooms have been refurbished, we have a new deck, and slowly but surely, we will be updating the rest of our guestrooms and hotel, including the bar and restaurant.
Come, immerse yourself in our captivating retreat where history, natural beauty, and leisure harmonise effortlessly. Experience the allure of Dormie House — an enduring escape where time seems to stand still, beckoning you to the heart of the Southern Highlands.
